Rheinhessen is Germany's largest wine region, lying just east of the Palatinate. Couples from Alzey, Worms, or the villages along the Rhine are roughly 60 km from Villa Renting in Eisenberg — a 45 to 55 minute drive through connecting wine country.

The context

Two neighbouring wine regions, one border.

Rheinhessen and the Palatinate share a border and a lot of landscape character. Both are flat in the east, hilly in the west, and defined by wine production. Couples from Rheinhessen who want to stay within wine-country atmosphere but need a full-property private venue find the Palatinate a natural extension.

The difference is that the Palatinate — particularly around Eisenberg in the Donnersbergkreis district — still has manor houses with large private parks that are operated as wedding venues. Rheinhessen itself is more agricultural in character, with fewer historic buildings at this scale. Villa Renting fills that gap.

The route

Rheinhessen to Eisenberg by road.

From Alzey — roughly the centre of Rheinhessen — the drive to Eisenberg takes around 30 to 35 minutes via the B271 and local roads southwest into the Palatinate. From Worms on the Rhine, the A61 south connects to Grünstadt, from where the villa is under 10 minutes. Total distance from Worms: around 60 km, approximately 50 minutes.

Guests without cars can take regional rail from Alzey or Worms toward Kaiserslautern and get off at Grünstadt. The train journey is 25 to 40 minutes depending on departure point, and taxis from Grünstadt to the villa take under 10 minutes.

The venue

A 1880 manor at the edge of the wine hills.

Villa Renting was built in 1880. The park covers 14,000 m² and wraps around the building. A walled garden at the rear — the Heidelberg Corner — handles symbolic ceremonies. A covered outdoor area with a permanent roof and three chandelier fittings deals with rain without any temporary structure.

Capacity: up to 100 guests for dinner. Four on-site apartments for overnight stays. The party runs until 3 a.m. as standard, on request until 4 a.m. — from 10 p.m. the music moves indoors. The catering is handled by independent caterers — you choose, and the kitchen is available to your team from the morning.

Ceremony

The walled garden at the back of the villa is set for symbolic ceremonies. Chairs face the stone wall and the garden hedging. In fine weather, from May to September, this is where most ceremonies take place. If weather changes, the covered outdoor area — with its permanent roof and open sides — takes over within minutes. The plan switches seamlessly; it is part of every event from the start.
