The Season · Spring
Almond blossom and open dates.
March brings the almond blossom to the Palatinate — over 100,000 trees in pink and white along the German Wine Route. The villa is 30 minutes away. May is warm and popular. April sits between them: mild, the park in full bloom, and more date availability than either month beside it.
The almond blossom
March: blossom, off-peak, and 10°C.
The almond blossom peaks in the second and third week of March. Gimmeldingen — the centre of the blossom route — is 30 minutes from the villa. Getting Ready in the villa, photos among the almond trees, ceremony back in the park. March is our cheapest non-winter month: €2,900 venue fee on a Saturday, €1,500 midweek, plus €105 per guest — with more Saturday availability. The weather is cooler and more variable — we plan both scenarios from the start.
May
May: warm, outdoor, and peak season.
May evenings run to 9 p.m. daylight. The park is green, the garden blooms, the ceremony in the Heidelberg Corner works without weather anxiety. May is already peak season — Saturday bookings go 12 months out. Fridays are the alternative for couples who are flexible on the day.
April
April: the off-peak window with the park at its best.
The park is in full spring bloom in April. Temperatures reach 15 to 18 degrees by midday. More date availability than May, better weather than March. For couples who want outdoor but not the pressure of peak-season booking, April is the answer.
Practical
What spring means for planning.
March and April bookings typically happen 4 to 8 months out — not 12. May is closer to summer in terms of lead time needed. If you're considering a spring date and you're reading this in late 2026, you can still get a May 2027 Saturday. If you're reading this in spring 2027, look at April.
